What Ingredients are in a Dr Pepper Float?
Dr. Pepper soda and chocolate ice cream only needs two ingredients! Yay!
- Chocolate Ice Cream: Any brand of chocolate ice cream will work.
- Dr. Pepper: You can buy Dr Pepper cans for small servings or 2 liter bottles for larger servings.
Pro Tip:
- Don’t buy ice cream with nuts or other similar things in it. They don’t suck up the straw very well!

It’s super easy to make a Dr Pepper Float! Are you ready for it?
Add the scoops of ice cream to your cup and then add the Dr Pepper! Phew! All done! Simplest dessert ever!
I’m a big fan of float desserts like Root Beer Float Cupcakes and Root Beer Float Whoopie Pies. So I’m excited for you to try this Dr Pepper Float twist!

Dr. Pepper Vanilla floats are very popular because of the similarity between Root Beer Vanilla Floats.
A good vanilla bean ice cream is all you would need to make a Dr pepper vanilla float.
But you’ve actually got other ice cream options as well.
It could be good to try Strawberry, Cherry, or other berry flavored ice creams.
The main thing I recommend is staying away from ice creams with added ingredients.
Marshmallows, nuts, cookies, etc. are hard to suck up and make the floats crunchy.
Though we have on occasion pulled out the blender and mixed it all in with some creamy peanut butter!

Are Dr Pepper Floats Good?
Dr Pepper Floats are super good! And while that’s a personal opinion, you’ve really got to try them for yourself.
They’re light and bubbly and yummy just like the classic soda floats you know and love.
And though I haven’t tried them all, I’ve heard you can use many different flavors of soda for ice cream floats. So trying your favorite soda is definitely in order!
Possible future opportunity to drink soda and ice cream? I mean someone has to try out all the sodas and flavor combinations right?

You definitely can use Dr pepper for an ice cream float! And Dr. Pepper comes in many different flavors too. The flavors of the soda can add an instant change of ice cream float.
According to what I can find on from consumer comments, there are actually 23 flavors inside any original Dr Pepper! That’s a lot of flavor! Probably why it’s so good! And I find that when you mix chocolate ice cream with Dr Pepper it some how brings out a cherry flavor, which makes it SO good.
However if chocolate ice cream isn’t your thing, give a Dr. Pepper Vanilla Float a try!
How Many Floats Can I Make with a 2 Liter Bottle of Dr Pepper?
The answer to this question will depend on how much ice cream you put in each cup and how big your cups are.
On average though, you’ll probably get 10-12 Dr Pepper floats out of a single 2 liter bottle.
You can scale up from there if you are having an Ice Cream Float party based on how many people you’re serving.
Ice cream float parties are perfect for having a Coke hour or Dr Pepper hour! Bring out all the flavors of ice cream and all the flavors of soda!

When to Serve Dr Pepper Floats
Dr Pepper floats can be served any time of day or night! Right? I mean ice cream and soda? Always a good thing right?

However the real truth is, that chocolate ice cream and Dr. Pepper combined together just aren’t considered a healthy choice by most people. We’ll just put this one in the dessert category!
