Frozen strawberries, creamy peach yogurt, a perfectly ripe banana, and a bit of orange juice make this one of my family’s favorite frozen strawberries recipes!

When I’ve got frozen strawberries in my freezer I always find myself wanting to try something new and exciting. They just have that effect!

Often I’ll cook them up in a yummy dessert like Strawberry Cream Croissant or Strawberry Crisp.

But what about when I want a frozen strawberry for breakfast? Strawberry banana and peach smoothie for the win! Perfectly healthy and delicious!

Using only four ingredients I can have this yummy smoothie on the table in under 5 minutes.

Toss in a fun straw and my kids will drink it all down almost without taking a breath!

Of course then they get the brain freeze that comes with it but that’s all part of childhood right?

And I’m not going to lie, we adults love them too! We’ve been known to make strawberry banana peach smoothies for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and even (gasp) dinner!

They are that good!

What Is a Smoothie?

A smoothie is a blended meal or snack. Smoothies can be made using fruits, milks, juices, yogurts, and vegetables.

Most often smoothies are made using things that go well together.

For example, you wouldn’t put broccoli in a smoothie because the flavor would over power anything else in the smoothie.

But often, things like spinach, can easily be hidden in a fruit smoothie and you won’t be able to taste them at all.

While there are lots of ways to buy smoothies, as the market is good for smoothie making places, making them at home will save you LOTS of money.

Are Smoothies Healthy?

Do you know there are people on this planet that believe fruit is not healthy? I am not one of those people. If you are one of those people- this smoothie probably isn’t healthy to you.

If you are not one of those people- welcome to the world of healthy breakfasts!

While smoothies can spike your blood sugar due to all that natural fruit sugar, there are also many benefits!

Frozen strawberries contain high amounts of vitamin C, manganese, folate, and other beneficial antioxidants.

Bananas can actually help you feel full longer and lose weight. Orange juice has more vitamin C and folate plus some potassium too.

And many yogurts, such as peach yogurt contain probiotics which are good for your health.

Compared to most boxed cereals, a frozen fruit smoothie is going to load you full of healthy vitamins that your body actually needs!

Ingredients in Strawberry Banana Peach Smoothie

Using only these four simple ingredients, you’re going to have one great smoothie!

  • Peach Yogurt: We love Tillamook Peach the best.
  • Banana: Ripe but not banana bread quality. A few brown spots will be fine.
  • Orange Juice: Adds a little bit of liquid needed to blend the other ingredients.
  • Frozen Strawberries: Keeps the smoothie cold and adds delicious flavor!

How to Make a Strawberry Peach Banana Smoothie

  • Blend: If you find the smoothie consistency to be too thick for your taste, add a little bit more orange juice until it’s the right consistency.
  • Drink: All smoothies taste best cold! Try not to give yourself a brain freeze!

How to Make a Smoothie Thicker

Strawberry Banana Peach yogurt Smoothie is already pretty thick!

We like our smoothies thick enough that you can stick a straw in the middle and it’ll stay.

If you need it thicker, or you accidentally added too much orange juice, there’s a simple magic trick that’ll thicken it right back up again.

Add ice cubes or more frozen fruit! It’ll quickly thicken the smoothie back up without changing the flavor of the smoothie.

Can You Freeze A Smoothie?

You can freeze a smoothie quite simply! For an easy meal prep, nothing beats a quickly blended smoothie!

Most smoothies can be taken straight from the blender, into your container, and frozen.

However, for very liquid-y smoothies, or smoothies with a lot of juice or water, they may not thaw quite the same.

They tend to freeze as one big ice cube, and then when they thaw, they thaw more like a cold drink than a smoothie.

To freeze a smoothie, be sure it is thicker, and made with more of a yogurt base than a water base.

This should give you the best results when thawing the smoothie.

Do You Put Ice in A Smoothie?

Ice can be put into a smoothie when your smoothie isn’t cold enough on it’s own, or when it’s lacking thickness.

For a recipe like strawberry banana, and peach smoothie, it is often unnecessary.

The frozen strawberries keep this smoothie quite cold. And the peach yogurt keeps it quite thick.

Unless you’ve allowed the smoothie to warm, or added too much juice, ice isn’t needed in this smoothie.

How to Eat Frozen Strawberries

Frozen strawberries are NOT good to eat directly from the freezer.

And while that may seem like a no brainer, I have kids that are still developing that particular portion of their brain.

Instead use frozen strawberries in recipes that involve blending, cooking, or baking them.

When used in a recipe, frozen strawberries can often be replaced with fresh strawberries, and no one will be the wiser.

This makes them perfect for using year round when fresh strawberries are out of season.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Inactive Time 5 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of peach yogurt
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/4 cup of orange juice
  • 10 large frozen strawberries

Instructions

  1. Toss all ingredients into a blender in the order given.
  2. Turn blender on and allow it to puree all ingredients until a smooth creamy mixture. If your blender cannot handle this, in the off position, use a spatula to help get the strawberries to the bottom. Continue to do this until the entire mixture is smooth and lump free.
  3. If the smoothie is too thick for you (I like mine thick!) then add another 1/4 cup of orange juice to thin out.
  4. Pour into two glasses, add fun straws and enjoy!
