There’s something magical that happens when you pair pears with gorgonzola. Add it on a pizza base, and you’re in for a treat!

The juicy sweetness of the pears goes perfectly with the tangy gorgonzola.

Pear and gorgonzola pizza has delicious crunchy walnuts that have that perfect texture.

It’s great as a main dish with sides or sliced into small pieces for an appetizer.

Provolone cheese has a creamy base that everyone will love!

Gorgonzola pear pizza is the kind of pizza that impresses at parties but is simple to whip up.

What Ingredients Are in Pear Gorgonzola Pizza?

Blue cheese pizza? It’s actually really yummy! And it’ll probably be your favorite way to serve blue cheese!

You’ll need the following ingredients:

  • Pizza crust dough: The perfect canvas for our toppings. I love rectangle pizzas as they’re great for parties.
  • Provolone cheese: Melts beautifully and has a creamy, mild flavor.
  • Pears: Our star ingredient, giving that juicy and sweet flavor.
  • Walnuts: Adds a delightful crunch.
  • Gorgonzola cheese: For the tangy kick!
  • Chives: A sprinkle on top for a burst of fresh, oniony flavor.

Pro Tips!

  • For a crispier crust, preheat your pizza stone before placing your pizza base on it.
  • Caramelized onions can be an excellent addition, since the pizza already has such a sweet profile.
  • Store bought is way easier but here’s a recipe for homemade pizza dough if you prefer.

How to Make Pear Gorgonzola Pizza?

This sweet pizza is the perfect balance of savory gorgonzola cheese and sweet sliced pear.

Here’s how to make it for your next party:

  1. Get your oven hot and ready.
  2. Spread your pizza crust on your favorite baking sheet or pizza stone.
  3. Start with a layer of creamy provolone.
  4. Place those juicy pear slices.
  5. Add walnuts and sprinkle that gorgonzola.
  6. Into the oven it goes! Once golden brown, it’s done.
  7. Garnish with fresh chives, slice, and serve!

Pro Tips!

  • For a flavor kick, a drizzle of balsamic glaze or balsamic reduction after baking works wonders.
  • Using a rolling pin can help you get that pizza crust just right, especially if you’re making your own dough.

When to Serve Pear Gorgonzola Pizza?

This pizza is the perfect appetizer for gatherings or cozy pizza nights at home.

Slice them into small pieces and watch them disappear!

While you can also serve them as a main dish, I find that they are much better as a appetizer.

But as always, it’s about personal preference! you can really serve them whenever the mood strikes!

What to Serve with Pear Gorgonzola Pizza?

A side salad drizzled with balsamic vinegar makes a really delicious combo.

Or you can also serve it with salty prosciutto for a meaty contrast!

And anything you can serve as an appetizer, you can easily serve with this.

How to Store Pear Gorgonzola Pizza?

Got leftovers? Cool them to room temperature, then stash them in an airtight container in the fridge.

They’re perfect for the next day’s lunch.

I recommend eating them up within a couple of days though.

Usually they’ll stay good for up to four days in the fridge.

Can You Freeze Pear Gorgonzola Pizza?

Yes, you can definitely freeze this pear gorgonzola pizza recipe!

First make sure it’s cooled! That’s important, don’t stick it in the freezer unless it’s cooled.

Then slice it up, and place in a freezer-safe bag.

When you’re ready, reheat in a preheated oven for best results.

If you reheat in the microwave, it’ll be warm, but it’ll be pretty soft and I don’t like it that way as much.

Is Pear Gorgonzola Pizza Healthy?

Pizza isn’t usually considered a health food. It’s much more of a comfort food.

However, fresh pears and walnuts do actually add a touch of nutrition!

Personally, I feel pretty good about almost any fruits or veggies I can sneak in!

If you have kids (or you know… I may LOVE cookies…) then you know how it is.

As with almost everything, enjoy in moderation!

Can I Eat Pear Gorgonzola Pizza While Pregnant?

While pears and walnuts are both considered safe to eat during pregnancy, there is some debate on whether it’s safe to eat blue cheese during pregnancy.

If you do eat it, make sure the gorgonzola cheese is pasteurized.

And always consult your doctor for personal advice. I’m definitely not an expert!

Can Dogs Eat Pear Gorgonzola Pizza?

While pears in small amounts can be okay for dogs, gorgonzola and other pizza ingredients may not be.

It’s best to avoid sharing this dish with our furry friends.

And always talk to a vet if you have questions.

Just like above, I like making food, but I’m definitely no expert on all matters health!
