A few months ago, I was asked to cater a church event for 175 people.
A mix of Hors d’oeuvres between sweet and savory was requested.
My budget was limited and my time frame was even shorter.
So after the initial panic and a chat with a good friend, I calmed down and got to work.
I planned a simple menu that took ordinary food that I picked up at my local wholesale club and jazzed it up to look and taste a little bit better than right out the box.
I was told that the ideal number of appetizers per person was 3.
Some would eat more, others less.
Overall that number was spot on.
3 was the magic number and with that we had plenty of food for everyone.
Though these items aren’t our typical recipes or items we post I felt the need to share them with you as there was little out there in terms of quick appetizer foods for large groups.
All in all, over the next month you’ll see posts of a variety of Hors d’oeuvres that were a huge hit and simple to make.
These would be great for weddings, baby showers, large parties like 4th of July or just a simple get together with family and friends.
These Spinach Parmesan Bites are irresistible.
A simple pre-made spinach dip on top of crackers topped with shaved Parmesan.

Candace, are you like me in the respect of eating straight Parmesan? The shavings were just too tempting to not sneak one or two!

Mary Ellen it is all about time saving when you are hosting a large event. No one wants to be stuck in the kitchen when the party is happening all around.
