What is a Jalapeno Popper Pinwheel?
It’s a spicy, cheesy, bacon-filled twist on the ever-popular jalapeno poppers.
Jalapeno poppers are generally made by filling a jalapeno with cream cheese or something that kinda cools that spicy flavor.
Then they are typically wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven until done.
They’re really the perfect party appetizers!
These pinwheels are a little different. They still have the cheese, jalapeno, and bacon.
But those are all actually mixed together and then the whole thing is rolled in a yummy dough!
If you like regular jalapeno poppers, you’ll absolutely love these.
What Ingredients are in Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels?
Simple ingredients only! Actually you only need 5 ingredients for this easy pinwheel recipe. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Dough (like crescent dough or pizza dough): The base that holds our delicious fillings.
- Cream Cheese: For that creamy, melt-in-mouth texture.
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese: Adds depth and a cheesy bite.
- Fresh Jalapeno Peppers (or green onions): The kick of spice or a milder flavor burst.
- Crispy Bacon: Because everything’s better with bacon!
Pro tips:
- Always let your cream cheese come to room temperature for an even spread.
- Remember to remove the seeds and insides of the jalapenos if you’re not into too much heat!
- Bacon bits can be used. Though I prefer the flavor of fresh bacon.

- Add in your cheese, jalapenos, and bacon.

Can You Make Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels Ahead of Time?
You can absolutely prepare jalapeno popper pinwheels ahead of time! They are the perfect party appetizer!
Prepare them, store them in an airtight container with some parchment paper between layers, and pop them in the oven when ready to serve.
I recommend not making them more than a day or two in advance though.
How to Store Leftover Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels
First, allow the pinwheels to come to room temperature.
Then place them in an airtight container.
These delicious snacks are great cold, but you can always warm them up a bit before serving.
If warming, warm them in an oven or air fryer to keep them a little crispy.
You can also warm them in the microwave but they’ll be a bit softer.
What to Serve with Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels?
A cool dollop of sour cream to balance out the spiciness!
Or a simple green salad can balance out the spicy kick of these pinwheels too.

Just wrap them in plastic wrap, then in foil, and freeze.
Thaw and bake when the craving hits.
That makes them great for prepping for a party! Game day! No problem! Just pull these out of the freezer.
Can You Use Puff Pastry to Make Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels?
You can definitely use puff pastry for these easy pinwheel appetizers.
Buttery puff pastry sheets would actually taste really good in the pinwheels.
They have a flakier texture. So if that’s your preference, then go for it!
Just adjust the baking time accordingly. Different pastries will take a different amount of time to cook.
Can Dogs Eat Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels?
No dogs really shouldn’t eat jalapeno popper pinwheels.
Spicy foods can be really hard for dogs to digest. And it can even be harmful for some dogs!
Really, unless it’s made for a dog, it’s best to not feed it to them.
