This Chicken Bacon Pasta is a simple one dish meal that the entire family will enjoy!  A simple cream sauce, crispy bacon and tender perfectly cooked chicken, served over penne pasta!   A quick and easy family meal even your kids will love.

Are you looking to make a delicious, savory dish for the family that takes about 30 minutes from start to finish? Pasta is one of those easy dishes that my kids love and I love how quickly it comes together!

For me what makes or breaks a good pasta dish is the sauce. I’m sure we’ve all had some sort of pasta with a sauce that doesn’t really help the dish out in any way. Not with this recipe! The creamy sauce is to die for! It is probably my favorite part of the whole thing, besides the bacon of course.

How to make Chicken Bacon Pasta:

Making your chicken and bacon pasta is a lot easier than you might think! The best part is it only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish!  You will be enjoying your pasta dinner in no time! Besides a little bit of time make sure you have a few ingredients to make you chicken and bacon pasta:

  • Bacon: Bacon is amazing, we all know that! It makes everything taste better!
  • Chicken Breasts: Chicken is so tasty and a great source of protein in your dish!
  • Garlic Powder: Seasoning is a must for this recipe!
  • Black Pepper: This will give it an extra kick for the flavor.
  • All Purpose Flour: This will over a yummy crispy coating on your chicken.
  • Butter: Butter is extremely important in cooking. It helps with the flavor and structure of the recipe.
  • Chicken Broth: This will be the main part of the sauce. It will help give the pasta a stronger chicken taste!
  • Chicken Bouillon: The more flavor the better!
  • Garlic Cloves: These will help enhance and better the flavor.
  • Heavy Cream: This will thicken up your sauce big time. For a lighter taste use half and half instead.
  • Cornstarch: This ingredient not only acts as a thickening agent but also can help make your dish have a softer texture.
  • Penne Noodles: I love penne noodles and fine they work best with the overall look of the recipe, but if you want to use another type of pasta go right ahead! This recipe also works great with spaghetti noodles.

Pro Tips:

  • If your noodles get overcooked, no need to worry. If your noodles happen to get a little soggy, throw them in a pan with a little butter and saute them a little. This will crisp them back up!
  • If you have tried this dish before and are looking to shake things up a bit, try adding some vegetables in the mix!
  • The bread coating on the chicken is not required, but adds a little crunch to your chicken.

Tips on Cooking Chicken Breasts:

Cooking chicken can be one of the simplest, yet hardest art to master. If you are like me then there have been many times where your chicken didn’t turn out quite like you hoped it to. No worries I am here to help! Here are a few tricks I have learned to always cooking great chicken:

  1. If your chicken breasts are huge then slice them in half horizontally to make sure the chicken breast cooks all the way through.
  2. Season it well. Make sure you season your chicken well as chicken tends to lose some of the flavor as it’s being cooked.
  3. If you are using frozen or really cold chicken breasts, leave them out for about 30 mins to bring to room temperature before you throw them on the stove. This will help them cook faster and all the way through.
  4. Always let your pan be warm or hot before sticking your chicken on it. If you don’t that’s how your chicken can easily overcook and become rubbery or dry.

Can I freeze Chicken Bacon Pasta?

I would suggest against freezing your pasta. You can if you want, but when you freeze it the sauce will separate and will be hard to revive to its original texture. This dish is best served hot and straight from the stove.

Can I reheat this Chicken Bacon Pasta?

Yes, you can definitely store your chicken and bacon pasta in the fridge. Keep in mind that the sauce may start to separate when left in the fridge for a long period of time. If you do decide to stick your leftovers in the refrigerator it will stay good for up to 4 days. Just stick in the microwave to reheat.

Great recipe and the only thing that I changed was instead of using a bouillon cube (which are notorious for MSG!) I used 1 tablespoon of Better than Bouillon Roasted Chicken base in place of the bouillon cube. Also, I think it has better flavor and won't put me in the hospital cause it has no MSG. I also used one cup of water + 1 tablespoon of the Better than Bouillon Roasted Chicken base in place of the chicken stock. But thank you for posting this recipe. It's now one of my favorites.
