What Ingredients Are in Pear and Prosciutto Bruschetta?

You should be able to find the great ingredients for this easy appetizer in most local grocery stores:

  • Olive Oil: Used for brushing the baguettes and marinating the pear.
  • Pear: Use fresh pairs!
  • Red Onion: I prefer this color over the others when raw.
  • Balsamic Vinegar: Gives a tangy kick to the pear marinade.
  • Fresh Thyme: Best when raw and not dried.
  • French Baguette: Sliced and toasted to crunchy perfection.
  • Blue Cheese: Crumbled for a tangy, creamy layer.
  • Prosciutto: Salty and savory. Goes really well with the sweet pear!

Pro Tips:

  • Choose ripe but firm pears for the best texture and flavor.
  • Make sure nothing is expired or old. Things tend to lose their flavor over time.

How to Make Pear and Prosciutto Bruschetta?

Holiday party and not a lot of time? This will totally become one of your go-to appetizers then!

Because it’s so fast and easy but SOOO yummy too!

  1. Marinate diced pear and onion in a mix of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and thyme.
  2. Brush baguette slices with olive oil and toast to a golden brown.
  3. Add a layer of blue cheese to the warm baguette slices.
  4. Top with the marinated pear mixture and then a piece of prosciutto.
  5. Serve immediately for the best taste.

Pro Tips:

  • Watch the baguettes closely in the oven to ensure they don’t burn – you want them just golden!
  • Have the kids help! These are so easy to assemble. All you need is a little time or an extra set of hands!

Can Pear and Prosciutto Bruschetta Be Made Ahead of Time?

You can make bruschetta ahead of time but not too far ahead. It’s best enjoyed fresh.

But you can prep the pear mixture and toast the baguettes a few hours ahead if you want.

Then combine it when you’re ready to eat.

How to Store Leftover Pear and Prosciutto Bruschetta?

If you know you’re not going to eat them all, it’s really best not to prepare too many bruschetta as stay fresh very long.

If it’s at a party and I’m not sure how much to prepare, I’ll often serve everything right net to each other. That way people can grab and make them as they eat them.

But if you’ve got some leftovers, wrap them gently in parchment paper and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

You’ll want to eat them within 24 hours for the best texture and flavor.

Can You Freeze Pear and Prosciutto Bruschetta?

You shouldn’t freeze bruschetta. After freezing and then thawing, it tends to be soggy and really not great.

I actually don’t even recommend making it separately either and freezing it separately.

The texture just changes too much. Even when frozen separately.

Just eat it when it’s fresh or not at all.

Is Pear and Prosciutto Bruschetta Healthy?

I think this pear and blue cheese bruschetta is super healthy!  The pear and olive oil offer a bunch of nutritional benefits.

Plus you’ve got protein because of the rich blue cheese and prosciutto.

Of course, what people react to and what they think is healthy varies so widely! So, go with what you feel is best for you!

You can always look up all the nutrition information and daily values of everything if you need to.

Serve it at:

How to Ripen Crunchy Pears?

If your sweet pears are way too crunchy, you can actually ripen them on the counter.

Place them in a paper bag at room temperature.

Check the whole pear bundle daily until they reach the desired ripeness.
