Ghost Poop – White Chocolate Popcorn

This Halloween Ghost Poop is simply White Chocolate Popcorn that looks and tastes great with a fun name!  5 minutes to make and a must have easy recipe for any Halloween Party!

When it comes to Halloween treats, my kids have really loved all the creative ideas we’ve come up with!  Every year we think of new and fun ideas to make for Halloween!

The first this season is Ghost Poop!  Ok, really it’s White Chocolate Popcorn, but my kids love saying ghost poop.

Really what kid doesn’t like using the word poop.  And when you can eat it, it’s even better!

The best part about this White Chocolate Popcorn Recipe is that up close it looks like plain white popcorn.  You can’t tell there is a layer of white chocolate covering the popcorn.

However when you taste it, it’s sweet and salty and oh so tasty!

Generally there are a variety of recipes claiming to be ghost poop.  The majority of them are mini marshmallows.

However that’s not really a recipe.  It’s just a simple item to put in a bag that you can put a tag on.  This does work.  But wouldn’t you rather something that not only tasted better than marshmallows but tricked people too!

The most famous Halloween saying is Trick or Treat, and these Ghost Poop Treat Bags offer both a trick and a treat!  A trick because everyone thinks it’s just ordinary popcorn and a treat because it really is a sweet yummy dessert!

Now this is what Halloween is all about!  Fun, harmless ticks you can play on your friends, family and little ghouls!

One of the great things about this Ghost Poop Popcorn is that it’s Gluten Free! Which means this gluten free ghost poop is sure to be a winners with all your friends!

When serving this at a Halloween party it’s always good to have a few ghost jokes!

What Kind of Chocolate Can I Use?

There are three kinds of chocolate you can use for this easy white chocolate covered popcorn.

  1. White chocolate chips with a small amount of shortening, vegetable oil or coconut oil
  2. Almond Bark – melted according to package directions.
  3. White Chocolate melting wafers – melted according to package directions.

Each choice gives a slightly different flavor, so I suggest going with the one you like the best.  However some options do cost more than others.  So go with flavor and budget!

Personally I use white chocolate melting wafers [as seen in photos]. This is because I stock up whenever they go on clearance [after holidays]. I also love that I don’t have to add any extra ingredients to make them smooth and creamy.

How do you make White Chocolate Covered Popcorn?

Whether you’re making White Chocolate Popcorn or White Chocolate Puffcorn, the process is the same!

  1. Melt the chocolate
  2. Pour melted white chocolate over your popcorn.
  3. Mix until all popcorn is covered.
  4. Allow chocolate to cool and dry
  5. Break popcorn into pieces and enjoy!

How Many Cups of Popcorn are in a Microwave Bag?

The answer to this question will vary ranging from 4 1/2 cups popped to 6 1/2 cup popped.  You’d think the answer would be easy, however according to one of the major popcorn brands, the amount you get depends on the variety you choose.

For this recipe I’d recommend a White Natural Popcorn with salt only.  For this, you’ll get an average of 4 1/2 cups of popcorn out of a microwave bag.  Which means you’ll need 3 bags of sifted popcorn to make this recipe.

I say sifted because you want to avoid kernels that might break you teeth.  Once you pop your popcorn, shake the bag well to get the seeds to fall to the bottom.  Then slowly scoop out the fluffy popcorn, leaving the seeds in the bag.

By doing this it will take a few extra minutes.  However you’ll also thank yourself later when you and your guests aren’t biting on kernels or spitting them out in front of you.

How Long Does Candy Popcorn Last?

Candy popcorn – meaning it’s coated in a cooked corn syrup glaze can last for 2 weeks or longer.  Despite this White chocolate popcorn tasting like it’s candy, it’s actually not classified as candy popcorn.

Instead we call it Halloween Ghost Poop or White Chocolate Popcorn.  And sadly it only lasts up to 1 week in an air tight container.  The older the popcorn, the chewier the popcorn.  Which means it doesn’t last forever.  The chocolate coating doesn’t help but instead speeds up the chewy factor.

Having said that, I would be amazed if this lasted longer than a day in your house!  I know in mine it’s gone within a few hours!  My kids love this and so do I!

Can I Add Sprinkles or Candy?

I found some snowman poop (little marshmallows) on Christmas. I forget the little poem that went with it but it made my brother-in-law laugh.
