The world seems to be obsessed with making Instant Pot Eggs.  However, have you tried making them in your Air Fryer yet?

Seriously, the are JUST AS GOOD!  Easy to peel, hassle free and mmm, mmm, tasty!

We love to make a batch of hard boiled eggs at the beginning of the week in our Air Fryer and then eat them all week long!  It make meal prep easy and they work great in kids lunches too!

How to make Hard Boiled Eggs in an Air Fryer?

Prep:  We’ve found that having this egg trivet makes cooking them so easy.  Your eggs wont roll around as you place your air fryer basket in or out of your air fryer.

It’s the same one used for an Instant Pot and can be found at most stores that sell them.  Personally I like to just nab mine on Amazon!

Cook:  Cooking your eggs is easy.  I use a GoWise Air Fryer to make my hard boiled eggs. However these should work in other brands too.  I suggest doing a test batch with ONE egg to ensure that your air fryer cooks similar.

If the test sample turns out, then whip up a batch or two of eggs!  If your egg comes out too runny or hard, then adjust the time accordingly.

Chill & Peel:  As you can see from the photos, in the winter, we take advantage of that white fluffy stuff outside called Snow.  Instead of an ice bath, my eggs get a snow bath!  However in the summer we use ice water to chill our eggs quickly.  After eggs cool down to room temperature, crack and peel the shells off.

Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs vs. Stove Top Hard Boiled Eggs

If you’re curious how to make hard boiled eggs on the stove, I recommend checking out my post on Hard Boiled Eggs Easy Peel.

The stove method cooks for 15 minutes.  The shells do come off decently well, but can be finicky at times.

In the air fryer I cook my eggs for 15 minutes as well and the shells come off easily.  With all our batches, we only had 1 egg that gave us issues.  We’ll just call it a “bad egg”  ha ha.

Both methods are easy to whip up and take the same amount of cook time.  However we find that the eggs boiled in an air fryer are better with less clean up!

How long do you ice bath Hard Boiled Eggs?

In our house there are two kinds of ice baths.

  • Snow: In the winter months when we’re covered in a few feet of snow, we like to just walk outside, scoop up a bowl of snow and let our Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs chill in that.  Simply place your had boiled eggs in a bed of snow and pour a 1/2 cup of cold water over them.  Then gently press the eggs down into the snow.  Place a cup of snow over the eggs and let chill for 10 minutes.
  • Ice:  Ice is the classic method.  Place eggs in a bowl of ice water for 10 minutes or until eggs are at room temperature or colder.

Tips for Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs:

  • Always do a test batch of a single egg to ensure that the time works for your taste and air fryer.  For my GoWise Air Fryer, these hard boiled eggs take 15 minutes to get to the perfect yolk for us!  After your test batch adjust your time to match your favorite style of yolk.
  • Use an egg trivet.  These are a life saver in holding your eggs still when inserting or removing your air fryer pan.
  • Peel when eggs have cooled off for 10 minutes before chilling in fridge.  We find the shells come off easier when removed after initial ice bath, than days later after sitting in the fridge.
