How to Store Banana Coconut Muffins
To store banana coconut muffins, place them in an airtight container.
You can store them at room temperature. Which is how I prefer them.
They will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
For longer storage, you can refrigerate them for up to a week.
And you can eat them straight from the fridge if you want.
Or you can let them warm up on the counter before you eat them.
Can You Freeze Banana Coconut Muffins?
Yes, you can freeze banana coconut muffins!
Wrap each muffin individually in plastic wrap is your safest bet.
Then place them in a freezer-safe bag.
This double wrapping is best cause it helps them not get freezer burned.
They can be frozen for up to 3 months.
To enjoy, thaw at room temperature.
Or warm them in the microwave for a few seconds.
Then spread with butter? Yeah! That sounds good to me!
Are Banana Coconut Muffins Healthy?
Banana coconut muffins actually have natural sweetness from bananas and coconut.
Though they still have sugar too.
So they are a sweet snack. But they do have some nutritional benefits from the bananas and coconut.
Are they healthy? I guess that’s your call! I think they’re pretty good though!
To make them healthier, you can:
- Substitute whole wheat flour for all or part of the all-purpose flour.
- Use coconut sugar or maple syrup instead of granulated sugar.
- Add flax seeds or oat flour for extra fiber.
If you have dietary concerns, always check the nutrient information.
Then adjust the recipe to fit your needs.
I will give you a fair warning though, I haven’t made those swaps myself!
Adding whole wheat flour will likely make them a bit dryer.
And maple syrup would probably make them more moist, etc.
You may have to adjust your baking time too with some of the swaps.
So if you make changes, I recommend little changes and be careful!
What to Serve with Banana Coconut Muffins
Banana coconut muffins are delicious on their own actually!
But you can serve them with other things for a yummy breakfast or brunch.
Here are a couple of ideas for you:
- Easy Strawberry Milk
- Classic Vanilla Rice Pudding
- Fruit Salsa
- Natural Strawberry Lemonade
- Homemade Strawberry Sauce
- Summer Fruit Salad
- Strawberry Banana and Mango Smoothie
- Sauteed Cinnamon Apples
- Over Easy Eggs
- Non Alcoholic Mimosa
Can I Add Nuts to Banana Coconut Muffins?
Yes, you can add nuts to banana coconut muffins!
Prefer a banana nut muffin? That’s totally okay!
Chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds make a great addition.
Say hello to extra crunch and extra flavor!
Fold in about 1/2 cup of nuts when you add the coconut flakes and chocolate chips.
And boom! Yummy muffins coming your way!
Is Coconut Healthy?
Coconut is considered healthy. As long as it’s in moderation.
Actually isn’t everything best in moderation? Pretty sure it is.
Coconut has fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
Coconut flakes add texture and a natural sweetness to baked goods too.
But then coconut is also high in saturated fat.
So it’s best enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.
These banana coconut muffins are the perfect recipe for any occasion! They are moist, flavorful, and easy to make.
Next time you have extra bananas, give this great recipe a try. Your whole family will love these tasty muffins!
