A Sweet Pork & Slaw Sandwich either sounds delicious to you or strange and it’s all based on where you grew up.
Like with all foods, depending on what part of the country you grew up, will determine much of your food habits and taste preferences.
If you grew up close to the coast, you probably developed a strong taste for seafood.
If you grew up in the Midwest, you are partial to casseroles or “hot dishes.”
However if you grew up in the south, you are quite familiar and almost expect to have Cole Slaw on top of your meat.
Slaw dogs, Slaw burgers & pork and slaw are all normal to your taste buds.
However, moving to Minnesota, I’ve learned that Cole Slaw on your meat is a foreign concept and that people often distrust you for such an idea.
This, my friends is where I come in.
I attempt to educate them.
I’ll invite friends over for dinner and serve this.
Generally a distrusted look may cross their polite face, however they’ll attempt our foreign and strange meal out of politeness, only to devour it and generally ask for seconds after it’s consumed.
Plus you’re getting almost all of your food groups in one simple sandwich. Veggies, dairy, meat and bread.
Serve it with a nice fruit salad and you’ll have yourself a balanced meal!
Now this Sweet Pork isn’t just any sweet pork.
It’s a Cafe Rio Copy Cat recipe that you are guaranteed to love.
This recipe for Sweet Pork been tested on a very large group and retested on small groups and so far I’ve not had a single complaint – aside from the fact that there are occasionally no leftovers.
Plus the sweet pork can be used in so many ways. This Sweet Pork & Slaw Sandwich is just one {and a very tasty one I might add}.
The leftovers reheat well and freeze well too. So you never have to worry about making too much!
