For the last 5 weeks I have been on a major candy making kick.

I’ve made a 9 batches of homemade caramels and used that caramel to create a variety of different types of candies and treats.

In addition to those 9 batches of caramels I’ve also made hard candy and these.

My husband mentioned one day that he really liked peanut butter pretzels and asked if I could make some.

So I decided that if I was going to make some, I wanted them to be for Valentine’s Day.

Tiny Twist Pretzels make the perfect little heart shape when covered in chocolate and the combination of peanut butter and pretzels sounded tasty to me!

However, the moment I tried to slather regular peanut butter on a pretzel, the peanut butter pretty much just slipped through the holes and right out the back.

The idea I had in my head didn’t work.

It was a sloppy mess.

Not wanting to give up, I decided to transform the peanut butter into more of a thick peanut butter cup type filling.

I tossed a few ingredients into my peanut butter and came up with a thicker substance that worked quite well.

This mixture will seep through the holes of the pretzels if you push too hard.

However after a few pretzels, you’ll find your groove on what works well and go with it.

There is no right or wrong way to put the mixture on the pretzels.

You can pipe it on or spread it on or roll it into a ball and squish it onto the pretzels.

But whatever you do, make sure to keep the heart shape intact.

I absolutely love how these turned out.

These Valentine's Peanut Butter Pretzel Hearts are the perfect treat for any Peanut Butter Cup lover! Chocolate, Pretzels and Peanut Butter!

Inactive Time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 60+ Twist Pretzels
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (I used creamy but crunchy would be tasty too!)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 12 ounces white melting chocolate
  • 4 ounces pink melting chocolate
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. lay 30 pretzels on a baking mat or wax paper.
  2. In a small bowl mix butter, powdered sugar and peanut butter together.
  3. Gently spread peanut butter mixture on the 30 pretzels laid out.
  4. Top peanut butter pretzels with the remaining 30 pretzels - set aside.
  5. Melt white chocolate according to package directions. I like to melt mine in a plastic container with a lid.
  6. Once chocolate is melted, drop in one peanut butter pretzel at a time and using a dinner fork, scoop it out and tap it along the sides of bowl to remove excess chocolate.
  7. Gently place chocolate coated peanut butter pretzel on wax paper to dry.
  8. Repeat with remaining pretzels.
  9. Once pretzels are dry, melt pink chocolate. Drizzle pink chocolate over pretzels with a fork or put chocolate in a piping bag or heavy duty ziploc bag and snip a TINY piece of the end off. Pipe (drizzle) chocolate onto hearts and allow to dry.
  10. If you use sprinkles, you'll need to add them while chocolate is wet.
  11. Once dry enjoy!

Notes

This is a really fast treat. However dipping them in the chocolate is what takes the most time. This is a great task to do while watching your favorite show!

These look super cute! I can't wait to make them. I was wondering what kind of butter you used? Salted or unsalted butter?

Have been looking for a Valentines snack for my grandson. My daughter eliminated red dye from his diet due to increased poor listening and behavior. This has helped him so much I do not want to tempt him. But could keep these white and not use pink or red. FYI. Many manufacturers are eliminating red dye and using beet juice.
