Fall has officially arrived here in Minnesota!
This week the weather has cooled down, leaves have started to fall and the nights require warm quilts and PJ’s.
It’s the perfect time to start making soups, and pumpkin treats and everything apple.
This slow cooker apple crisp is one of our favorite fall time treats. In fact, it’s so easy we make it on a regular basis.
We have made this for several guests and it is always a huge hit. Just toss everything into the slow cooker and turn it on. Toss a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and you’ll have heaven in your mouth!
- 8 granny smith apples, peeled. cored, peeled, and sliced thinly
- 1/2-1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup old fashioned oatmeal
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
Generously spray slow cooker with non stick cooking spray
Place apples in slow cooker.
Sprinkle the white sugar and cinnamon over top
In a medium sized bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, and oatmeal.
Cut in butter with a pastry blender until you get pea size pieces of butter.
Cover the apples with this mixture.
Cook on high for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, depending on the thickness of your apples (I slice mine thin and cook for 1 1/2 hours)
Serve with vanilla ice cream.
