Every Monday during the Summer, Jack Splash opens their pool to the public for open swim.

If you’ve never been to Jack Splash open swim then you should give them a try.

If you’ve lived here longer than a few months you’ll quickly learn that indoor pools are far and few between when it comes to St. Cloud and surrounding areas.  The city itself doesn’t offer any indoor public pool options.

As far as I can tell, your only options for indoor swimming pools in the area are a health club, hotel or the rare times Jack Splash opens their doors.

If you’re looking for diving boards, slides or special water features, then perhaps Jack Splash open swim isn’t for you.

However if you’re looking for a fun place to bring your kids, a heated pool and plenty of water toys to keep them busy, then perhaps Jack Splash open swim should be on your to-do list!

Jack Splash Open Swim - 2 kids swimming in pool with life guard sitting above them.

I first heard about Jack Splash open swim from Facebook.  The first open swim session they had in 2019 was actually offered on a Saturday!  So I packed up the older kids and took them swimming.

Adults were allowed in the pool, however my kids were old enough to not need me in the pool so I decided to take pictures instead!

My kids had a blast!  They were able to hop right into the 90*F heated pool and have fun!  There were plenty of kids around and a lifeguard on duty.

The pool at Jack Splash is quite a bit smaller than I initially imagined.  Despite my initial surprise, it turned out to be plenty big for all the kids and adults in the pool.

At one point I counted 24 people in the pool and didn’t feel it was over crowded.  There was still plenty of room for everyone!

I also appreciated how there were plenty of seats for parents to sit and watch. I also appreciated that toys, pool noodles and exercise equipment were available to all swimmers to use!

We had forgotten swim goggles and found a pair in the basket along with toys to play with!

Jack Splash open swim offers a 2 hours swim session. The two hour swim time was just the right amount of time to wear down my kids.  1 hour would have felt too short and 2 1/2 hours too long.  My kids and I both felt that 2 hours was just perfect!

We were also happy to see that there were plenty of changing rooms and bathrooms to cope with the amount of people there.

Sadly Sundays just don’t work for our family with open swim so we wont be going back this season.  However the one Saturday they offered Jack Splash Open Swim we had a blast!

The fee to get into the pool was affordable and a great way to burn off some of that pent up summer energy!

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME AT JACK SPLASH – WHAT DO I DO?

When you first arrive at Jack Splash open swim you’ll walk right into the parent seating area and reception area.  To your left is a desk and this is where you’ll pay your fee.  Once paid, you can either enter the pool area or change into your swim suit.  There are bathrooms located on the opposite side of the desk.

Leave your boots and outdoor clothes on a chair and head into the pool area.  Since you’ve already paid, you can just go straight into the water or grab some floating gear to help you and your children feel more comfortable in the pool.

When it’s time to go, the life guard on duty will notify everyone.

The nice thing is that the lifeguard does not need a 15 minute break every hour, as other places require.  You are free to swim the entire two hours!

Once you get out of the pool you can rinse off in the shower and change in one of their changing rooms.  Be sure to ask about birthday parties before you leave!

SWIM LESSONS:

During the week, Jack Spash offers Swim Lessons.  These lessons are designed to help your child build their skills and confidence when it comes to water safety.  The classes range from 2 – 4 students (never more than 4) and are in their 90*F Pool.

Lessons range from Parent & Child classes for those 9 months – 36 months all the way through advanced swim lessons to prepare children to join swim team.   Jack Splash offers 4 sessions of swim lessons each year (one per season) and each session lasts for 11 weeks.

The cost for these sessions is $165, which equates to $15 per lesson.  If you have two or more children signed up for lessons, the second child (and all others) will receive a $20 discount on their swim lesson session – excludes Little Splashers).

In addition to these 4 sessions offered throughout the year, they also offer 3 two week camps throughout the summer. These camps offer 8 classes (Monday – Thursday) in a two week period.  The cost is $120 which also breaks down to $15 per lesson.

The lessons ARE more expensive than the various community education swim classes in the area charge.  However they offer a heated pool and fewer students per lesson than the various community education classes offer.

Private lessons are available, however you’ll need to call them to find out specific details.
