The best honey for making this great recipe is pure honey. And raw if you can!

Raw honey has better flavor and has more nutrients compared to processed honey.

You can also experiment with any different type of honey if you like.

Wildflower, clover, or orange blossom are a couple of ideas.

Experiment to find your favorite flavor.

Homemade honey butter can last for up to two weeks in the fridge.

And if you freeze it, it can last for up to three months.

Just be sure you keep it clean from other foods and return it to the fridge or freezer when done.

To store your homemade honey butter recipe, place it in an airtight container.

Then keep it in the refrigerator.

This will keep it fresh and flavorful!

If you plan to use it over a longer period, try putting it into smaller containers.

That way it’s not all being exposed to air at the same time and should last longer.

Can Dogs Eat Homemade Honey Butter?

While honey and butter are not toxic to dogs, they probably shouldn’t eat them.

Butter is high in fat, which can cause digestive issues for dogs.

And the sweetness of honey can lead to weight gain and dental problems long term.

You should probably stick to dog-friendly treats to keep your furry friends healthy and happy.

Is Homemade Honey Butter Healthy?

Homemade honey butter can be a healthier alternative to regular butter spreads.

They usually contain added sugars and artificial flavors. Blah.

Honey is a natural sweetener with antioxidants and antibacterial properties. How cool is that!

So use it in place of your regular stick of butter! Yay!

And if you’re asking because you’re on a low calorie diet?

It’s probably just a good idea to use this in moderation.

Is Homemade Honey Butter Keto?

Homemade honey butter is not keto-friendly really.

Sugars aren’t really keto. Even natural sugars like honey.

If you’re following a keto diet, maybe try using a sugar-free honey substitute?

Or just use the regular butter. That is keto!

Never added sugar, but many years ago there was a commercial honey butter product with or without cinnamon. With cinnamon was my favorite and I have duplicated that. Thanks for the reminder!

Hi Susan! I found that the little bit of sugar helped the butter and honey flavors meld together better. Without it, I found my butter had a bit of a bite to it. Though you could leave the sugar out. The cinnamon idea sound fantastic! I'll have to try that soon!

I never added powdered sugar into mine before but i bet it makes that much sweeter. Now I must try it!

The first time I made it I didn't add powdered sugar to mine either. And it still tasted good. But the powdered sugar just helps blend the flavors a little bit better and adds a hint more of sweetness (and less butter taste). Hope you like it!
