Have you ever tried soft marshmallows dipped in colorful skittles? Because if not, your taste buds are in for a treat.

These skittles marshmallow pops are super child friendly. Both for eating and for making! Kids love sorting those skittles by color and topping each marshmallow with crushed skittles.

And marshmallow pops are so appealing because they’re a break from the originalWe’ve all had S’mores and Rice Krispies, but how about something new?

Also we love that rainbow marshmallows are so easy to make. Your food processor does all the work for you! Plus marshmallow candy pops are perfect for every holiday.

St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, Easter, Birthday parties? These rainbow marshmallow pops have got you covered!

Ingredients for Rainbow Marshmallows

Here’s everything you’re going to need to make cute little rainbow marshmallows.

  • Skittles: If you think your kids are gonna eat a lot while sorting, buy extra!
  • Marshmallows: Don’t use hard marshmallows! Use a new, unopened bag for best results.
  • Water: For helping the skittles adhere to the marshmallows.
  • Sucker Sticks: This is what makes them pops! You need something to hold them with and not get all sticky.
  • Foam Block: For sticking the rainbow marshmallow pops into when they’re done being created.

Pro Tip:

  • Don’t forget the foam block! (Guilty) Or you’ll have nothing to stick your pops into to dry.

How to Make Marshmallow Pops

A few simple steps will get you some yummy rainbow marshmallows!

  • Skittles: Run the colors, one at a time, through a high powered blender until fine powder.
  • Dip Marshmallows: You don’t want to soak the marshmallows in the water or they’ll get mushy.
  • Cover: Sprinkled the desired color on the marshmallow.

Pro Tip:

  • Don’t forget to allow time to dry! No one wants to eat rainbow marshmallows wet.

How to Store Marshmallow Pops

Marshmallow pops should be stored in an airtight container to keep them from drying out. You’ll need a tall container in order to accommodate their long sticks.

If you don’t have such a tall container, you can always trim the sticks and put them in a shorter container also. I don’t recommend using a bag as they tend to get smashed whenever we place them in a plastic bag.

How Long Do Marshmallow Pops Last?

If properly stored marshmallow pops should be eaten within 3 days for best results. Although you could probably still eat them for 5 days, they tend to get harder with each passing day.

And after 5 days rainbow marshmallows don’t exactly go bad but they get really hard and uneatable.

Are Skittles Vegan?

Skittles contain no animal derived products! Making them totally safe for anyone following a vegan lifestyle.

Are Skittles Gluten Free?

Skittles are also gluten free!

They contain no ingredients that have gluten and are therefore safe for anyone living a gluten free lifestyle.

Rainbow Marshmallow Pops for Holidays

Here’s some of our favorite ways to use the Rainbow Marshmallows at the holidays:

  • Valentine’s Day: Pink and Red Skittles
  • St. Patrick’s Day: All Green or Rainbow Colored Skittles
  • Easter: Green, Yellow, and Pink Skittles
  • Fourth of July: Red and Blue Skittles
  • Halloween: Orange and Purple Skittles
  • Christmas: Red and Green Skittles
  • Baby Shower: Pink and Blue Skittles
  • Birthday: Pick skittles to go with your theme or use all the colors

I’m sure you can think of other ideas of your own but there’s a few to get you started. Enjoy marshmallow pops year round for every occasion!

Can Dogs Eat Skittles?

Dogs and sugar are a no-no. Most dogs with no other health conditions should be able to eat small amounts of sugar.

But the sugar isn’t really good or necessary for them either. If you give your dog skittles, keep it under 10 and don’t give them any other sugary treats that day.

Can Dogs Eat Marshmallows?

This is a big negative. Dogs should not eat marshmallows. Many marshmallows are actually toxic to dogs and eating them can lead to organ failure!

Even if the marshmallows aren’t toxic, they’re also way to sugary for dogs to safely consume. Keep the marshmallows away from your dogs.

Who Invented Skittles?

The exact inventor of skittles is unknown, though we do know the company.

Frank C. Mars founded the Mars candy company in 1911. They are responsible for many of our favorite candies including Twix, Snickers, M&Ms, etc. They also make gums such as Extra and Orbit.

In 1974, Skittles were invented and made popular in Britain, named after a popular yard game there. Five years later, skittles made their way to the United States and have been a household name ever since.

Rainbow Marshmallow Pops Variations

Don’t Have Skittles? No Problem! Try these ideas instead.

  • Kool-Aid Powder
  • Jello Powder
  • Sprinkles
  • Candy Melts
  • Crushed Oreos

Any sweet and colorful candy powder should work. You can buy the candy powder or chop it up yourself.

How Far in Advance Can I Make Marshmallow Pops?

Marshmallow Pops can be made up to three days in advance. They won’t go bad during that time, but after three days they may begin to become hard.

For best results I recommend only making up to 24 hours in advance. And always be sure to keep them sealed in an airtight container or they’ll become hard much more quickly.

Are Skittles the Same Flavor?

Have you heard that rumor floating around the internet that skittles are actually all the same flavor? What??!!! How can that be when I can see them and they seem to taste different from each other?

I mean almost everyone agrees that yellow is their least favorite flavor right? Here’s the scoop. A man did an experiment to see if skittles flavors were distinct.

By blindfolding people and feeding them one skittle at a time, he determined there was: No difference between them!

While skittles each have a distinct smell, there is no distinct flavor!
