Top 10 Recipes of 2016

As is tradition for all Food Bloggers, as well as I assume other bloggers too, we like to create a top 5 or top 10 list of our best.

For me, it’s recipes.

And really these only did well because of you!

How you ask?  Great question.

Did you know that every time you share a recipe of mine on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Google + or Twitter, you begin a ripple effect for my website?

A very good ripple effect which makes me want to jump on my bed like a child.

Every time you share one of my posts, like this one {ahem, ahem} it is then shown to an entirely new audience.

Out of your 500 friends, let’s say 200 see the recipe and 2 people share it to their friends.

This continues then with their friends.  Not only does the ripple continue when your friends’ friends share my recipe, but for each person who sees the recipe, but doesn’t share it, many of them will click over to see the actual recipe.

With each click, and share, more people will visit my website.

And the more people who visit my website, the more money I make.

Some may say that is a blunt way of putting it.  But the reality is, it’s true.  I make money from ads on my website.

And every time an ad is on your screen for one second or longer (you don’t have to click on it, just have it on your screen) then I make a fraction of a penny.  A very small fraction of a penny.

So each person’s visit counts.  And when enough people visit, that fraction of a penny turns into an actual penny.  Which then turns into a dollar bill and eventually turns into funds I use to buy the groceries to make the recipes, the gas to get to the store and even my car insurance.

I only get paid when people visit my website.  Therefore, every time you share a recipe, you are helping me.

Now sharing isn’t the only thing you can do to help.

You can tell your friends about a recipe you try and love.

You can also like the recipes I share on social media.  Some social networks, like Facebook, will show your friends posts you’ve liked.  So if you like my posts, sometimes your friends will see it too.

And not only that. But by liking and interacting with my recipes on Facebook, Facebook then categorizes you as a Num’s the Word fan and will continue to show my recipes in your news feed.

Pretty cool huh?

2016 was the most amazing year Num’s has ever had.

During 2016 I, Janelle, bought out my blogging partner Jodie, and became the full owner of Num’s the Word.  Over the course of 2017 you’ll begin to see many wonderful changes to the look of Num’s of which I am super excited about.

In 2016 I also had explosive growth with many recipes going viral (including EVERY recipe in the top 10) and it’s all because of you!

I was able to attend several blogging conferences, learn more about technique and social media as well as meet some of my favorite fellow bloggers.

Another cool thing was that I was able to finally buy a “real” camera and stop using my old point and shoot camera for all my photos!

And with the help of a fabulous team was able start getting videos on Num’s the Word so you could all see how easy and delicious the recipes on here are!

Thank you for all your support and kind reviews of my recipes.  I can’t wait to see the amazing things in store for 2017 and hope you’ll continue with me on this taste tingling adventure!
