Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches

Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches

I’ve only tried French Dip a few times, mostly because they used to be my sister’s favorite and so I could not like them. The ones I did try were not that great though. They were flavorless and kind of boring. These are not like that at all. They are flavorful and just super good.

They are also one of my favorite slow cooker recipes.

And the way I feel about slow cooker recipes, that means it’s one of my favorite all time recipes.

We love sandwiches at our house and these are so yummy and have so much flavor. We use spicy Montreal Steak Seasoning and it gives it just a little kick. And, as usual, my husband uses pepper jack cheese to give it even more of a kick. Either way, they’re delicious and you should give them a try!

Ingredients

  • 3-4 pound chuck roast
  • Spicy Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 whole black peppercorns
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried, crushed rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 6-8 French rolls
  • 6-8 slices of provolone cheese

Instructions

Remove excess fat from roast and sprinkle with steak seasoning.
Heat olive oil in heavy pan over medium-high heat. Brown roast on both sides, then place in the crock pot.
Mix together soy sauce, beef broth, water, peppercorns, rosemary, thyme, garlic, and onion. Pour over roast.
Cook on low 8-10 hours or high for 5-6, until tender and easy to shred. Drain the liquid to use for dipping.
Shred roast with a fork.
Place meat on French rolls, then top with cheese.
Broil for just a few minutes until the cheese melts.
