Oreo Fudge

Sharing is caring!

Creamy, crunchy, Oreo Fudge, has become one of our favorite Holiday treats.  White chocolate melted down creates the perfect base to this easy Fudge recipe.

This is not your classic 3 Ingredient Oreo Fudge recipe.  It’s better.  Sure, 3 ingredients is tempting, but if you take an extra 5 minutes to prepare your fudge, you’ll be rewarded with the best tasting fudge you’ve ever had.

This recipe is based off of my very popular See’s Fudge Recipe.  I simply swapped out the milk chocolate for white chocolate and added in chopped Oreos.  The results, were so good, my kids beg me to make this every year to give to their teachers.

Oreo Fudge Ingredients:

  • Butter – everything in life tastes better with butter.
  • Vanilla – a must have ingredient to highlight every other flavor.
  • White Chocolate – Traditionally I use Ghirardelli melting wafers as they melt immediately.  However I’ve also used white chocolate, it just takes longer to melt.
  • Sugar – a must have ingredient if you want a sweet treat.
  • Evaporated milk – note that this is NOT Sweetened Condensed Milk.
  • Marshmallows – the secret ingredient to making the best fudge.
  • Oreos.  Any flavor or size.

How Long Does Oreo Fudge Last?

Oreo Fudge at Room Temperature: If wrapped in foil or plastic wrap, this Oreo Fudge will last a week or longer at room temperature.

Oreo Fudge in the Fridge: Kept in the fridge this Easy Oreo Fudge recipe will last 2 – 3 weeks in the fridge.

Can you freeze Oreo Fudge?

Yes you can freeze Oreo Fudge!  Don’t stress around the holidays, simply whip this up in advance and enjoy! This fudge will last 2 – 3 months, making it the perfect make ahead and freeze Christmas fudge recipe!  To thaw, place frozen fudge in fridge for 24 hours, then gift or you can bring to room temperature by sitting it on the counter.

How to Store Oreo Fudge?

Fudge can easily dry out so storing it properly is key to long lasting delicious creamy fudge.  When ready to store, I recommend wrapping your fudge in heavy foil or plastic wrap first. Then you can place it in a zipper bag for extra protection.  This I’ve found is my best defense to preventing fudge from drying out.

Pro Tips:

  • Use parchment paper or non-stick foil to line your pan.  This will help the fudge pop out of the pan easily to make cutting them a breeze.
  • Only cut your fudge when you’re ready to eat, serve or gift.  Fudge tends to dry out faster in smaller portions.  If you leave it in larger pieces it will stay creamier longer.
  • If you do cut the fudge into bite sized serving pieces, then wrap them tightly in foil or place in a zipper bag for storage.
  • Save a few pieces of chopped Oreos to sprinkle on top for added beauty and texture.
  • You can use double stuffed or mega stuffed Oreos if you wish or any flavor!
  • Do not remove the cream filling.  It will add flavor.
  • Ensure fudge is room temperature before cutting.

Chocolate or White Chocolate Oreo Fudge?

The choice is yours.  We love this fudge recipe in it’s original chocolate form, but when it comes to Oreo Fudge, we really like the flavor of white chocolate and Oreos.  Not only is it a great flavor combination, but it also helps you see the chunks of Oreo’s hiding inside.

However if you only have milk or semi-sweet chocolate at home, don’t be scared to use that instead.  It will turn out great and taste amazing!

Creamy, crunchy, Oreo Fudge, has become one of our favorite Holiday treats.  White chocolate melted down creates the perfect base to this easy Oreo Fudge recipe.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 Tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup white chocolate melting wafers or high quality chocolate chips
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk (this equals 2/3 cup)
  • 10 large marshmallows, cut in half
  • 8-10 Oreo cookies, chopped

Instructions

  1. Line an 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper or non-stick foil, making sure to cover edges and sides. This will help with cutting solid fudge.
  2. In a large bowl add butter, vanilla and chocolate melting wafers or chips. Remember the higher quality the chips the faster and better they will melt. Plus they'll taste better!
  3. In a 6 quart saucepan, add sugar, milk an marshmallows.
  4. Over medium heat, bring mixture to a boil and whisk continually until mixture reaches 230*F (approximately 5 minutes of constant boiling).
  5. Immediately pour hot melted marshmallow mixture over chocolate wafers and butter.
  6. With a rubber spatula, stir well, ensuring chocolate melts and mixture is not lumpy. Mixture will thicken as you stir.
  7. Quickly fold in chopped Oreos. Mixture should be pretty thick now.
  8. Pour mixture into lined 8x8 casserole dish and set aside to cool.
  9. Once pan is room temperature (feel bottom of the pan) then remove fudge from pan and cut into pieces.
  10. Store extras in foil or plastic wrap and then inside a plastic bag for best results.
